Who Qualifies?

Minority students (as to sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, national origin, gender identity, and/or physical challenge) with a history of community service who will attend Northern Illinois University with a high school GPA of 3.0 or better, an ACT score of 22 or better and a history of high moral and ethical standards and conduct.

Application Process

You may submit either the online or offline application. The online application is electronically submitted and available at hme.eychanerfoundation.org. The offline version must be printed and completed then submitted to your counselor or mailed. Those using the online application process will receive an automatic email notification of your successful online portion submittal, which you should keep as proof of filing along with a copy of your completed application.

You must submit your application prior to or on the deadline date. Your application will not be considered unless all materials are received by the deadline.

Application deadline is March 16, 2012.

Finalists will be notified by phone of interview times and dates.

Supplemental Materials

All applications require additional supplemental materials to be complete. Please note requirements below, as you will need to begin gathering your material in advance in order to make the deadline. The scholarship committee will not accept late materials, and late applications will be removed from consideration.

The following materials must be submitted to your counselor or sent to the address below.

• Application Certification page signed and dated with minority status noted.
• At least two (2) and no more than three (3) Letters of Recommendation. Two must be from teachers.
• Official school transcripts from DeKalb High School showing your complete high school record.
• Verification of any/all test scores that you included in your application if not listed on your transcript.
• A copy of your SAR or FAFSA.
