2009 Matthew Shepard Scholar Charles Banta was elected President of Luther College Student Senate in Decorah, Iowa. Charles is majoring in Computer Science and minoring in MIS, Music and Gender Studies. He is a student athlete with the Luther College Track & Field team. Charles is currently President of Luther College PRIDE and Decorah PFLAG. He also serves as Student Senate Diversity Representative for Gender and Sexuality, on the LISACC Technology Advisory Board, Traffic Hearing Board, Global Concerns Committee, and works at the Technology Help Desk as a Senior Support Technician.
